Embracing Emotional Fluidity: The Moon’s Guidance on Mondays

It’s Monday, May 6, & Moon is in Aries, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Ashwini. Aries is the first sign of the natural zodiac. it’s where we begin our lives, take our place in the world, express our personality outward.

Aries vibrates with the frequency of being our most authentic selves, of making that our business not anyone else’s.

“Let people have their opinions. more than that—let people love their opinions, just as you & I love ours. but never delude yourself into believing that you require someone else’s blessing (or even their comprehension) to make your own creative work. & always remember that people’s judgments about you are none of your business.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

Ashwini is ruled by the Ashwin kumara, twin horse gods, so it’s off to the races, but without the animal cruelty horse-racing entails.

Actually, horses represent our senses & our tendency, to greater or lesser degree, to let them rule our lives, for them to run hither & yon like wild horses & for us to go chasing after them. this asterism infuses the day with the equine qualities of swiftness & lightness, gives us the power to achieve our goal, reach our destination … if we harness our precious faculties of attention & intention, don’t allow ourselves to get distracted, become unfocussed. Horses also represent our prana, our life force, so it’s a good day to do pranayama, breathing practices, to calm our nervous system, get rid of pre-race jitters so we can focus.

It’s the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waning moon, which means, among other things, that we’ve got a new moon tomorrow. This tithi supports us with the fierce energy necessary to release whatever needs to go, & we may subconsciously resist, become nervous, angry or frustrated & take it out on others rather than turning it inward for self-purification. think of today as prep for the new moon tomorrow: what still needs to go to make room for something new? no pain, no gain! how much energy are you wasting by resisting, clinging?

Monday is ruled by the moon, who invites us to be in the flow of our emotions, which means being able to move from one to another, not get stuck on, attached to, any particular feeling. Moon invites us to be the river, not fall into it.

And that’s your daily bliss! Which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
