Tidy Up, To Spark Joy!
It’s Friday, July 19, & Moon is in Sagittarius, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Mula. We get some distance from the sturm and drang of Scorpio in Sagittarius, where ruling planet Jupiter (aka, “the guru,” see more below) helps us zoom out, gives us the wisdom to expand our perspective, see the bigger picture, to stop sweating the small stuff, realize that our emotional woes are small potatoes in the grander scheme of our existence. That’s not to shame or judge ourselves for feeling our feelings, just to minimize their weight.
Mula means “root” & is ruled by Niritti, a fierce form of already fierce Kali, who gives us the power of destruction so we can create anew. This asterism brings a lesson about yanking out by the roots whatever doesn’t serve us, to declutter our psychic or physical lives, practice the art of tidying up to spark more joy. What’s taking up space you could put to better, more joyful use—debilitating thoughts or tendencies, useless items, weeds in real gardens?
It’s the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon, so we are full to bursting with something, depending on which house Capricorn (where full moon will be) falls in our chart & whether we’ve got planets there. I’m feeling it, fo’ sure. how about you? what are you feeling on the verge of?
Friday is ruled by Venus, planet of love & diplomacy, which go together like peanut butter & jelly, like the moon & stars. if your love life could use a little more diplomacy (!), you might look to the western sky just after sunset for a hit of guidance from Venus herself.
Bonus track: the full moon after the summer solstice, which is Sunday, is celebrated as Guru Purnima, the day the first guru was born & the transmissions of yogic knowledge began. guru = “gu” (ignorance) + “ru” (remover); thus a guru is one who rids us of our ignorance, shines the light of wisdom into our lives. This Full Moon takes place in Capricorn, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Uttarashadha, which means “later victory” & brings a lesson about all the small things we get to do that eventually look like one giant thing, that we achieve victory one step at a time. gratitude to our gurus, our teachers, might be a great first step toward achieving our goals!
And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
