Wednesday Wisdom: Unveiling the Stories We Tell

Rise & Conquer!

It’s Wednesday, August 14, & Moon is in Scorpio, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Jyestha. Scorpio is where our worst fears & paranoias dwell, where we can unintentionally opt out of reality, where our perceptions are skewed by our darkest emotions. Fear not! Mars rules Scorpio & he’s opposite in Taurus, with Jupiter, both of them blasting moon with their light—Jupiter with hope & wisdom, Mars with the courage to face our fears rather than running & hiding, so we can transform them into wisdom by saying, “Hello, dear shadow, why are you showing up? What lesson are you here to teach me?”

“F-E-A-R has two meanings: forget everything & run or face everything & rise. The choice is yours.”—unknown

Jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by Indra, chief of the gods. This asterism reminds us to be as responsible as elders & as humble as Indra eventually learned to be, to take our authority over others (& our life) seriously while putting our ego on the back burner.

It’s the tenth lunar day (tithi), the tenth phase of the waxing moon, which supports us in fulfilling our dharma, living a purposeful life. “everyone wants to ‘make a difference’ & live a purpose-driven life that provides a sense of satisfaction & meaning,” says Stephen Cope. “Every man has a vocation to be someone: but he must understand clearly that in order to fulfill this vocation he can only be one person: himself.” Do you know what your purpose is? Are you heeding it? Each of us is called in a unique way. we’re not all meant to be Gandhi! you do you!

Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, the part of us that loves to gather info & write objective stories, like a true investigative journalist, unbiased, just presenting the facts. As humans, all we do is spin stories, our life is made up of narratives. What story are you already telling about today? With Mercury still retrograde, our stories will become more internalized, more subjective, so do be mindful of that. Merc retro encourages us to focus inward rather than be stimulated by the external. How’s about stepping away from screens some, from being entertained & distracted by what’s “out there”?

Bonus track: it is said (in the Agni Purana) that sowing seeds on Jyeshtha + the tenth tithi will bring great prosperity. Go for it!

And that’s your daily bliss! Which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
